Please could you elaborate on the services and products that Moeschle provides.
I think you have captured the main parts of our business, but foremost we are a designer and manufacturer of stainless steel vessels and containers for industry, be it food to light chemical. We also manufacture walkway ladders and the safe access to them.
When was Moeschle established and how has the business evolved over time?
Moeschle GmBH was formed by Ernst Moeschle in 1970 and during the November of that year the first containers were made. In September 2002 we formed Moeschle UK Limited as a fully owned subsidiary (Daughter as the Germans say). I was employed at this time to actively promote and build what we have today. Our first office was in Epworth, East Lincolnshire before we made the move to Sheffield in 2007. Then in 2015 we moved to our current office and warehouse.
What challenges does the business encounter in the current market?
We are always encountering a lack of information relating to the specifics of the designs for our engineered products. Pricing is also a challenge for the food and beverage sectors and one that clearly depends on the changing economy.

What is your role within the company and what does this entail?
I am the Managing Director of Moeschle UK and my current role covers all aspects of the business with assistance from the wider team both with engineering accounts and administrative backing. So, I oversee many areas, from observing changes in the markets to business strategy and technical issues to project management.
Please give us a brief description of your average day at work.
One word is busy, and I’m often firefighting, but I do enjoy it.
What challenges does your work pose?
Making sure we stay in front of the market and adapt accordingly.
What lies ahead for Moeschle?
We are working on a sustainable future both in the case of our people, the markets and the overall package we offer.
What challenges have you faced in attracting specialist talent in your field?
We have taken the view to train younger graduates. This clearly has its challenges, but as we are a very unique business I believe this is one of the best ways forward.
What advice would you offer to someone starting out in your area of business?
Like many engineering businesses we do not work on a 9 ‘til 5 model. So, if you are prepared to be adaptable and put in the hours both the people and therefore the eventual product will be rewarded by being adaptable.

What attracted Moeschle to engaging the services of New Dawn?
Their knowledge and the overall package that they offer. I believe they have a great understanding of people, which is the life blood of any business. Together in a short period we have a better understanding of what we want to do, where we want to go, and how we are going to achieve this. Without a strong team we don’t have a growing business.
Delivering guidance on organisational development (OD) is an area in which New Dawn has experienced success with their clients. Have you engaged with this service and how has it aided your business to align with your ongoing strategy, structure, people and management processes.
This is an area that we are working with New Dawn very closely. It’s good to have an impartial view with external vision that will help streamline the business and make us more sustainable and relevant for future growth.
Having such a busy work life must be both rewarding and challenging. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I think about work, but rest and enjoy holidays. Good food and conversation play a huge part too.
